Candy is a beautiful young female who represents the future of my preservation breeding program. She embodies the elegance, correct Papillon breed type, sound movement, and cheerful temperament that I strive to preserve.
About a year before Candy was born, I had my heart set on her older sister, Yara. However, Wendy Fleming of Weston’s Papillons decided to keep Yara, so I patiently waited another year for the right female to come along. When Candy was born, I immediately saw something special in her. As the weeks passed, I became more convinced that she was the one I had been waiting for. By the time she was 8 weeks old, I knew I wanted her to be part of DesertPaws. It wasn’t easy convincing Wendy to let Candy come live with David and me, and I am incredibly grateful that she entrusted us with such a special girl through our co-ownership.
Candy has been remarkably consistent in the show ring, earning multiple Winners Bitch awards and major wins. She now needs only a few single points to complete her AKC Championship. I can’t wait to watch her continue to mature and see what the future holds for this very special girl, both in the show ring and as an important part of our breeding program.
